
University of Bonn International Fellowship
Internship Overview
The purpose of this assistant initiative is to host distinguished researchers across various disciplines for a short-term visit (up to 12 days) at the University of Bonn.
Scholars joined with the University’s strategic partners or institutions located in preference countries for international partnerships will be given preference.
This program purposes to actively interact visiting fellows in Bonn’s academic community and enhance their visibility, particularly within scholarly circles. Moreover, it seeks to foster opportunities for future collaborative ventures between the visiting researchers and their Bonn counterparts.
Who can gain this and eligible for funding?
Preferable applicants include postdoctoral researchers and acclimated faculty members who are conducting research or teaching at a foreign university or research institute and hold a notable international profile in their field. A formal invitation from a University of Bonn host is mandatory
Only Bonn University members can submit applications and be best.
Please be aware that the university can not facilitate basic contact between prospective fellows and its faculty.
Funding Detail and the sizing of the funding
The grant provides the following support:
- - Travel grant based on the fellow’s country of origin
- A daily grant of €160 for up to 12 days, including arrival and departure
- - Up to €500 per project for material expenses related to hosting events, including:
- • Catering expenses (€50 per guest / €40 for Bonn staff)
- Costs for outreach and public engagement activities
Fellowships must commence between January 1 and December 31, 2026. All funds must be utilized by December 31, 2026.
Selection Criteria
The following factors will be considered during selection:
- - The fellow’s academic standing in their respective field
- - Their anticipated engagement with the University’s academic activities (e.g., lectures, seminars)
- - The projected long-term benefit and collaboration strategy between the fellow and the host institution
Application Submission
Applications must be submitted by doctoral-level researchers affiliated with the University of Bonn. The nominated fellow must confirm their consent in an informal statement

- Project proposal (maximum of 6 pages), including:
- Curriculum Vitae of the fellow(CV) in (PDF format)
- - Official invitation letter signed by the Bonn host (PDF format)
- Financial plan (must use designated template) and (use the Excel table)
-Preferred month of visit
- Justification for the invitation, emphasizing the fellow’s expertise and renown
- Overview of any existing collaborations
- Plan for integrating the fellow into academic activities
- Expected short- and long-term benefits and collaborative objectives
Submission Deadline
Application will close at September 22, 2025 (5pm CET)
Project start at January 01, 2026
Project completed by December 31, 2026
